Program Will Deliver Serious Game-Based Training Across the State to help Prevent Cases of Domestic Violence & Raise Awareness of DV Victims, a Protected Class

SANDY HOOK, CT, UNITED STATES, October 27, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Happy People Games, Inc., a Connecticut-based developer of evidence-based products that use research and video game strategies (“serious games”) for social impact, has been engaged by the State of Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) to create and conduct a statewide domestic violence prevention training program for Connecticut healthcare workers. The program commences in time for National Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), which is annually in October, and will run through June 2028. The training provides Continuing Education Credits for trainees who complete the training.

The initiative will introduce a serious games interactive approach to prevention training, leveraging research evidence and game strategies to help participants recognize early warning signs of unhealthy relationships, build communication skills, and better understand the dynamics of abuse and intervention. As importantly, the training provides care for the provider when engaging with victims of abuse.

“At Happy People Games, we demonstrate that games can do more than entertain; they can help people navigate some of life’s most complex and sensitive challenges,” said Sharon Wood, CEO and Founder of Happy People Games. “We’re honored to partner with the State of Connecticut to bring an evidence-based, engaging, accessible approach to domestic violence prevention that acknowledges where they are and empowers them with knowledge and confidence.”

The prevention training program will incorporate the company’s methodology in interactive design, including elements from its prevention-focused SaaS platform, Level Set ®, which has been used by educators and nonprofit organizations to support healthy relationships and comply with state laws.

Through a combination of educational content scenarios, interactive mechanics to build skills, and discussion-based learning, the program is designed to:
-Increase awareness of, and respond to, red flags
-Encourage proactive communication with suggestions to guide the trainee
-Support early intervention and prevention efforts
-Provide participants with practical tools and resources

The partnership reflects Connecticut’s ongoing commitment to innovative, community-centered approaches to public health and safety, particularly in addressing domestic violence through prevention and education. This initiative comes after the State of Connecticut officially made domestic violence a protected class as it relates to employment, housing, credit transactions, and public accommodations; meaning that employers, landlords, banks, and other institutions can not discriminate against a person because they are a victim of domestic violence.

We must all be aware and involved to keep each other safe. Happy People invites all CT healthcare businesses and organizations to take its training. The Company will also provide Continuing Education certifications for completion.

This engagement builds on Happy People Games’ broader mission to create evidence-based, human-centered experiences that drive meaningful behavior improvements, to increase awareness and knowledge and to strengthen connection.

In addition to its prevention work, the company recently launched The New Forevers™, a memory wellness brand designed to support older adults and caregivers through reminiscence-based games – Timeless Tunes and Still Frames- focused on music and storytelling.
